As I sit in mediation, thoughts naturally float through my awareness. I see all the usual words that bounce around my head in a given day. I see my mind trying to explain the experience, and everything else. And yet the noise, the habits, the programs, fade away as I breathe.
Silence is alluring. Irresistible. It draws me back to myself, away from the constant chatter.
It’s said that praying is when you talk to God; meditating is when you listen.
I once thought that “listening” meant receiving words and messages. And sometimes I do receive words and messages in meditation. But the communication of silence is based in clear, clean, wide open nothingness.
The message is that of comfort, beauty, space, and light.
Silence informs me, more than words ever could.
Nothing is nothing to fear.
