“Seek and you shall find” (Matthew 7:7). “Want and you will never be satisfied” (me).
There is a difference between wanting and seeking. The seeker has little idea what they pursue. The seeker looks inside, because eventually they realize there’s nowhere else to look. The “wanter” looks outside. They think they know what they desire, but they are wrong.
Wanting indicates something is missing. It isn’t. Wanting indicates something is wrong. It isn’t. The “conspiracy of want” plays out internally—by you, to you. The act of wanting takes you outside yourself, where there is nothing to be gained. When uncontrolled, wanting becomes hoarding and other behavioral perversions. That’s because desire cannot be satisfied. Greed cannot be satisfied. Want and greed promote a perception of inadequacy. Inadequacy promotes more want and greed. It’s an ugly cycle which contracts your life experience into something mediocre.
It is healthy, exciting, and meaningful to have goals and dreams—especially if you must overcome fear to pursue them. Ignoring inspiration is a major life bummer. Rather than facing yourself and your dreams, it’s easy to get tangled up in wanting outside things. But there is nothing more satisfying than stepping out of the comfort zone and taking risks. That is the practice of courage, which brings self-mastery, self-control, and self-realization.
Inspiration comes from your wisest self. She is fearless. She knows only your potential, your ability, your creativity. She is available to play, here and now. She is willing to explore this realm through the unique experience of you. She is the perfect partner with whom to play, work, and pursue your dreams. But Wisdom doesn’t want. She is neutral, standing by and ready to support you. She will keep showing you how “want” is unnecessary and dissatisfying.
Wanting is a fear-based burden. Seeking is a freedom-based blessing.
You are the God of your life experience. Seeking takes you inside, where essential gifts await. As you study yourself, you discover how little else you need.
